Main favorites are already in the quarterfinals

We saw a lot of great basketball today at Split Riva at the beginning of the EUSA basketball 3x3 championship. More than 40 games were played both in men and women competition and we already know first participants at the quarterfinals, but there is a lot to play for tomorrow.

At both men and women competition last year finalists had 100% success rate. Main favorites in the men competition, domestic team from University of Split and reigning champion from University of Kragujevac (Serbia) won all three games and are sure in the quarterfinals.

Split won against Bulgarian University of Shumen, Israely Institute of Technology – Technion and University of Pecs from Hungary, and team from Kragujevac were better than Ukranian University of Vasyl Stefanyk, Russian University from Saint-Petersburg and Bulgarians from St. Cyril and St. Methodius from Veliko Turnovo.

For the last two groups we will have to wait for tomorrow. In group C four teams have one defeat and are contenders for the first place in the group, but the University of Split 2 and University of Wroclaw are in front of the pack. Even more complicated is in group D where the winner will most likely be decided tomorrow at noon when University of Girona and University of Ljubljana will play their game.

At the women competition we have simillar situation. Both of the last year finalists, University of Ljubljana and Lithuanian sport university won all their matches so far. Girls from Slovenia will certainly come first, because they won three matches, but the Lithuanian girls have to win against University of Pecs to secure the postion.

At the group B Precarpathian University Vasyl Stefanyk from Ukraine and University of Nantes from France are in the best position to win first and second position, while the rest will play for places three to five.

Check out all the results at the official EUSA website and join us tomorrow for more exciting basketball.
